Marathi Grammar - Pronouns

Hi Marathi learners! 😊
In today's lesson, we will be discussing Marathi pronouns. Pronouns are an important part of any language, and Marathi is no exception. We will look at the different types of pronouns, how they are used, and some examples of their usage.

Types of Pronouns

Pronouns can be divided into two main categories: personal pronouns and demonstrative pronouns.

Personal Pronouns

Personal pronouns are used to refer to people or things. They can be either singular or plural, and they can be either masculine or feminine.

The following table shows the personal pronouns in Marathi:

| Singular | Plural | | -------- | ------ | | मी (mi) | आम्ही (amhi) | | तू (tu) | त्यांनी (tyanni) | | त्या (tya) | त्यांना (tyanna) |

Examples:

  • मी आज गेला (mi aaj gelaa) - I went today.
  • आम्ही आज गेल्या (amhi aaj gelyaa) - We went today.

Demonstrative Pronouns

Demonstrative pronouns are used to point out people or things. They can also be either singular or plural, and they can be either masculine or feminine.

The following table shows the demonstrative pronouns in Marathi:

| Singular | Plural | | -------- | ------ | | हे (he) | या (yaa) | | ही (hi) | ये (ye) | | होय (hoy) | यांनी (yaanni) |

Examples:

  • हे आज गेलो (he aaj gelo) - He went today.
  • या आज गेल्या (yaa aaj gelyaa) - They went today.
