DISCOVER A NEW HIKING ROUTE RICH IN HISTORY AND CULTURE!

Embark on a pleasant and flat 13km walk along an old railway line parallel to the Ebro River and explore the historic city of Tortosa with a guided tour. Hiking, nature, history, and culture in southern Catalonia.

HIKE ALONG THE GREENWAY FROM XERTA TO TORTOSA (13 km)
Enjoy a beautiful and easy walk along the greenway connecting Xerta to Tortosa via Aldover. Following an old railway line, revel in magnificent views of the natural landscape surrounding the Ebro River. This varied hike offers numerous scenic views and concludes in the monumental city of Tortosa with its breathtaking views of the Ebro.

GUIDED TOUR OF TORTOSA'S HISTORIC CENTER
Tortosa's connection between the Ebro River and the Mediterranean Sea made it a multicultural and maritime city throughout much of its history. The significant river trade and the presence of the only stable bridge between Zaragoza and the sea elevated Tortosa to a city of strategic importance.
During the panoramic guided walk through the city, you will have the opportunity to admire the Cathedral, the Suda Castle, the Royal Colleges, the municipal market, as well as the rich modernist heritage of the city center.

Main Highlights of the Excursion:
1- Enjoy a beautiful almost flat walk along an old railway line parallel to the Ebro River.
2- Visit Xerta and its famous dam, one of the most significant hydraulic engineering works of the Middle Ages.
3- Explore Tortosa, a city with a rich monumental heritage and a glorious past.

THE ITINERARY
– 8:00 AM: Meet at Universitat Square to board our private bus (main entrance of UB). Breakfast stop during the journey.
– 11:00-11:30 AM: Arrival in Xerta and guided walk through the village.
– 11:30 AM-2:30 PM: Hike along the Greenway to Roquetes.
– 2:30-4:30 PM: Free time for lunch in Tortosa.
– 2:30-6:00 PM: Guided tour of Tortosa.
– 6:00 PM: Return bus arriving in Barcelona around 8:30 PM
