How did you learn Italian?

For those who aren't native Italian speakers, how did you learn Italian? Did you learn it fast or was there any issue when you were trying to learn it for the first time? As a beginner, I prefer listening and mimicking an audio source instead. Also, it's important to look at the context. So, most of the time, I mimic first, then read the translation of that audio after. I used this course called Ripeti Con Me while learning (just check google for their website)

I learned it while watching a video about learning languages fast. Their youtube video is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2is7Vi7WXw I definitely agree with these parts:
1) Setting goals and identifying what you want to focus on are the first steps to learning effectively.
2) It’s necessary to listen at a natural speech rate when learning a new language
3) Don't rely on flashy interfaces where you can become addicted to earning badges instead of learning

How about you guys? Did you watch that video? What are your comments or suggestions?
